Matt will always hold a special place in the hearts of the Nelson family. I grew up with Matt and he was like a younger brother to me. He played street hockey with my husband. When we had kids, they loved him like an Uncle, always being silly and teaching them how to wrestle and play sports. Our hearts are so heavy to learn of his sudden passing, but also comforted knowing he's resting in Peace with his Mom, Dad and Wife. Our deepest sympathies to Rene, Joe, Steve and Chris on this great loss of a brother, and to all his nieces and nephew whom he adored. I am so sorry to read about Matt’s passing. Your family is in my prayers.

As a small horse rescue we were blessed to have Matt find us and bless us with his friendship & kindness.

Many times we would find Matt would send a donation towards saving a deserving horse at auction or contributing towards one of our fundraisers. More importantly, Matt was a friend.

One of our fondest memories is when he was asked to name a horse he helped us save. He gladly shared with us the name McDuff from MacBeth.

We will miss our friend and offer our sincere condolences to all Matt's family and friends.
