Carmen J. Vuotto was born on July 8th 1943 in South Philadelphia to Joseph and Marie (Moretti) Vuotto. He attended South Philadelphia High School where he played baseball and football. Carmen met the love of his life Laura (Capobianchi) and soon after they were married at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Carmen and Laura have two children, Carmen Jr. and Melissa.
The Vuotto family spent summers together down the shore in Wildwood Crest, New Jersey. Carmen loved the Phillies, football, and doing outside landscaping projects around the house.
Carmen joined the Philadelphia Police Department in 1966. He worked in several districts and units, most notably the elite Highway Patrol. He retired at the rank of Captain after 37 years of service. Carmen and his son, Carmen Jr., both held the rank of Captain at the same time, which was a first in the Philadelphia Police Department.
Carmen loved being PopPop to his grandson, Nicholas. To Nicholas, PopPop was his Hero.
Carmen was a very devout practicing Catholic. He attended Mass and Novena regularly. His faith and adoration never faltered. To everyone that knew him, it was said that Carmen was a true Gentleman.
Carmen is survived by his wife Laura of 60 years, his son Carmen Jr., daughter Melissa, and grandson Nicholas.
Services and Interment were held privately. Donations in his name can be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
