Richard Pavlik

Richard Frank Pavlik III, 68, passed into eternal life on Thursday August 10, 2023, at his home surrounded by loved ones after a two-year battle with cancer. Rick was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was a resident of Bristol Township. Rick was a graduate of Pennsbury High School and attended Kutztown University. He began his career in apartment maintenance in 1983 at Manchester Woods where his craft was self-taught, then transferred within the company to Chapelcroft Apartments where he worked for 16 years and was nicknamed “Golden Hands” because of his ability to repair and build anything. In 2001 he continued his career at Levittown Trace Apartments where he met his soulmate, Joann Filemyr. Rick would later finish his career at St. Laurent Apartments where he would pass on his years of knowledge and tricks of the trade to the next generation of craftsmen. He retired after being with St. Laurent for 16 years. Although his retirement was a big step in his life, his greatest accomplishment was his commitment of 42 years of sobriety which allowed him to be the humble, fearless man that he was. His strength throughout his treatment journey was unwavering. He fought with absolutely everything he had until his very last breath with a smile on his face and cringy jokes to brighten up the mood of those around him. That’s who Rick was.

Even though Rick’s edgy sense of humor and work ethic were a huge part of who he was, he was also a proud family man and loved nothing more than spending time with his grandchildren. Rick loved being outdoors gardening, fishing, and being on the road taking drives. He loved to cook and was a true adventurous foodie who was always willing to try anything at least once. We all knew whenever he was in the kitchen or on the grill, we were all in for a treat. He loved to have fun whether doing puzzles, playing video games, listening to music, singing, and playing the piano, or his most favorite, going to NASCAR races. His love for NASCAR started over 30 years ago with the number 28 car, Davey Allison, which grew into a complete admiration for the sport.

Rick is preceded in death by his father, Richard Frank Pavlik Jr, his mother, Norma May Lindbloom, and his son, Frank White Pavlik. He is survived by the love of his life, Joann Filemyr, his children, Christie Hicks (Kareem), Jason Filemyr, Jessica Filemyr, Michael Filemyr, Jennifer Filemyr, Christopher Filemyr, Jaimee Filemyr, and his grandchildren Destiny, Antonio, Makayla, Gianna, Bella, Kaiden, Ava, Leigha, and Noah. He is also survived by his brother Alan Pavlik (Cathy), his sisters Lynn Barlow (Richard), Norma Lindbloom, Mary Jo Smith (William), Heidi Meyer (David), Susan Pavlik (Sarah), Greta Carlton (Dale), Karen Hodge, and many nieces, nephews, and loving friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to Rick’s Celebration of Life Memorial Service on Saturday, September 9th, 2023, at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church of Levittown (6131 Bristol Emilie Road Levittown, PA 19057) with lunch to follow in the Fellowship Hall of the Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Richard F Pavlik may be sent to the Fox Chase Cancer Center.
