Obituaries James McCloskey
James F. McCloskey, Sr. passed away on June 13, 2023, at the age of 87. He was the beloved husband of the late Sheila (nee O’Hara). Loving father of James Jr. (Grace), Colleen, Kevin and the late Maureen Ann. Dear father-in-law of Nora. Dearest Pop-Pop of Brigid Toms (Erik), Jimmy and Fiona and great Pop-Pop of Rory and Maisie. He is also survived by his sister Peggy Donahue and many loving nieces and nephews.
James grew up in East Germantown and when on to a long career with both the Inquirer and Bulletin as a teamster and warehouseman. He was also a devoted parishioner of Maternity BVM Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and numerous committees. James was an avid fan of Notre Dame and loved Irish Music.
Relatives and friends are invited to call Monday, June 19th from 9 to 10am at the Maternity BVM Church, 9220 Old Bustleton Avenue, Phila PA 19115. His Funeral Mass will follow at 10am. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers family prefers donations in his name to Maternity BVM Church.
