Thomas Smith

Thomas William Smith, born on March 16th, 1938, was the son of the late Margaret Smith and Wilden Smith and was the oldest of two brothers, the late Robert Smith and the late William Smith.  He departed this earthly life on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at the age of 84.

He is survived by his wife Margaret (Marj) Smith, his son Thomas W. Smith Jr., (wife Teddy, son Colten and daughter Clarissa) as well as his sister-in-law Barbara, (wife of brother Robert), nieces Emily and Kimberly as well as nephews Robert and Matthew.

Tom was born and raised in Philadelphia, and earned his Bachelors degree in Accounting from Temple University while he worked and attended night school. He later became a CPA and also enjoyed continuing his learning through online college classes.  As a lifelong learner he enjoyed reading and taking classes on a variety of subjects ranging from Mathematics to Spanish.  Tom was also was a member of the Army Reserves where he served as a cook at the military base.  Tom also loved listening to and collecting many genres of music that included everything from big band and jazz to opera and musicals.  

As a young man Tom enjoyed playing baseball which he continued with his son, coaching little league and playing with his grandson.  He was also a major fan of all Philadelphia sports teams, including the Phillies, Eagles and Flyers.  Tom was an avid traveler and enjoyed many trips to Key West and Disney World with his wife, children and grandchildren as well as sojourns to Europe and Hawaii.  Tom had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed telling jokes to family and friends.  Tom was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend who will always be remembered for his caring, compassionate and easy going personality.

Relatives and friends are invited to viewing Saturday January 14, 2023 from 9-10am St. Albert the Great Church 212 Welsh Rd. Huntingdon Valley PA 19006. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10am with interment to follow at Reusrrection Cemetery, Bensalem Pa.
