Thomas Alberts

Thomas W Alberts, 93, the patriarch of the Alberts family, died peacefully at his home on September 1, 2022, surrounded by his wife and children. He was born October 11th, 1929 to Cass and Wally. Tom is survived by his wife, Mary (Ries) Alberts, 91, to whom he was married for almost 70 years, his 7 children, 15  grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. His children include Thomas G (Nancy), Charlene Ward (Daniel), MariAnn Campbell (Christopher), Gerard Alberts (Gloria), Christine Alberts (Mike Janzer), Patrice Kesler (Kurt), and Francine Alberts (Dan Heiges).

After graduating from North Catholic High School Tom enlisted in the Marines.  He attended Drexel University at night for 8 years earning a degree in chemical engineering while working during the day and raising his family. He was the first in his family to graduate high school and college and was an inspiration to many in the family. After working at Sharples Corp. as a chemical engineer, Tom founded his own company, Alberts and Associates where he and his eventual business partner, Jeff Kerner successfully represented some of America’s largest chemical processing manufacturers.

Tom was an avid Philly sports fan and loved watching the Phillies, Flyers, Eagles, Sixers and never missed an opportunity to attend one of his grandchildren's games and activities. Tom was well known for his love of pinochle games with family, passion for politics, reading books and the newspaper cover to cover, spending time at the Florida condo, getting the pool ready, trips to the shore, and his legendary toasts that always included a nod “to the travelers.”

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the CTCTEN Foundation (ctcten.org), which was founded in honor of Tom’s grandson Christopher, as well as to Sacred Heart Parish Catholic Church in Camden, NJ (1739 Ferry Avenue, Camden, NJ 08104) and Amigos de Jesus (amigosdejesus.org), two organizations who are strong advocates for the poor and which Tom and Mary have supported for many years.
