Daniel Szylejko

Daniel A. Szylejko, age 68, passed away Thursday Sept. 26, 2024 at his residence in Philadelphia surrounded by his loving family. 

 

Daniel was raised and lived in Northeast Philadelphia, graduated from Maternity BVM Grade School (‘69), Archbishop Ryan High School (‘73) and St. Joseph’s University (‘77). He is predeceased by his parents Carl Szylejko and Anastasia Szylejko (née Dailey).

 

Throughout his life he had many roles each of which he filled with integrity: food buyer, UPS driver, entrepreneur and Realtor. His most meaningful role was within his family. 

 

Daniel is the beloved husband of Carmel (née Micklosky). He is the loving father of Shannon Martin and her husband Ronald, Christopher McCall and his wife Yvonne, and Elizabeth Ann Szylejko. Daniel is the loving grandfather of Anthony McCall, Jaden McCall, Kayla McCall, Samantha Martin, Alexander McCall, Madison Martin, and Petey the dog. He is also survived by 2 loving great grandchildren, Bryson and Lucas McCall. Daniel is the dear brother of Susan Regan and her husband John, and Thomas Szylejko and his wife Tina. 

 

He will always be remembered for his kind heart, dependable nature, zany antics, clever one-liners, expressive face, helping hands, and above all his devotion to his family. 

 

Relatives and friends are invited to viewing Tuesday evening October 1, 2024 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the Galzerano Funeral Home 9304 Old Bustleton Ave. Phila. PA 19115. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday October 2, 2024 at 11:30 AM at the Maternity B.V.M. Church 9220 Old Bustleton Ave. Phila. PA 19115. (No viewing prior to Mass).  Interment will follow at the Our Lady of Grace Cemetery, Langhorne PA.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Daniel Szylejko may be made to: 

Abington Health Foundation / Asplundh Cancer Pavilion, 1200 Old York Road, Abington, PA 19001  in consideration for their support during his cancer treatment

Or to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, with this printable form as this was a charity close to his heart.
