Patrick Kowalick

Patrick Peter Kowalick, age 92, of Philadelphia, passed away on July 10, 2024 in Cheltenham, PA at the home of his son and surrounded by family. Lovingly known as Pat, he was the beloved husband of Ruth
Kowalick (nee Kegolis) with whom he shared over 64 years of marriage.

Born March 17, 1932 in Lost Creek, PA, he was the son of the late Paul and Mary Kowalick. He was the youngest of 17 children (13 boys and 4 girls) who all preceded him in death.

Pat joined the navy in 1951 and served in the Korean War. He was a proud navy Seabee, providing military construction work. He moved to Philadelphia with his bride in 1960 to pursue work as a heavy
equipment operator. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local 542 and worked on many roads and highways in and around the Philadelphia area. He was very humble, yet very proud of his work.

Pat was hardworking, kind and liked by all. He was extremely handy and could fix anything, helping many neighbors throughout the years. He loved to tinker in his workroom and to take care of his plants,
flowers and vegetable garden. He always had the nicest flowers on his city block. He loved animals, especially bald eagles and hummingbirds, always keeping his hummingbird feeder full.

Pat retired in 1994 at the age of 62. He and Ruth enjoyed their early retirement years with many trips to Atlantic City where Ruth would play slot machines and Pat would people watch. They developed friendships with other couples while there and kept in touch with them throughout the years. He was a devout Catholic and was able to visit Rome and Vatican City. His other travel love was his annual trip to Aruba with his family. Referred to as “pop-pop’s island”, he visited over 25 times and loved creating lasting, countless memories there. The more people he could share his island with, the better.

Pat will be most remembered for his dedication to his wife and family. He welcomed everyone and beyond his immediate family, he had wonderful stepfamily relationships. He held very special relationships with his grandchildren, who loved their pop-pop endlessly. His granddaughter Lauren, a nurse, helped immensely in his final days and they enjoyed the most special of relationships.

In addition to his wife Ruth, he is survived by his son Patrick and wife Linda, daughter Mary Anne and husband Cosmo, grandchildren Lauren, Maria, JP and Riley and great-grandchildren Kane, Ellie and
Harper. Pat was deeply loved and will be sorely missed by all.
