Melinda Shapley

Melinda Connie Shapley went to the Lord on June 6, 2024, after a long illness.

She is survived by her loving son James, sister Marjorie, longtime companion Joe and James' grandmother Janis.

She is predeceased by her parents, Geoge J. Shapley and Susan A Shapley (nee) Purificato, her brothers George J. Shapley Jr. and Glenn J. Shapley and her sister Susan M. Shapley.

She is also survived by her many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Melinda grew up in Somerton and attended St. Christopher School when she then moved to South Philadelphia and lived with her mom, Susan and sister Marjorie.

She was a lover of music, especially the Rolling Stones, who she saw in concert many times with her brother Glenn and sister Susie. She had a wonderful personality and great sense of humor; she could always find a way to make you laugh. She could talk to anyone and then call them a friend.

Her greatest joy in life was her son James, whom she loved and lived for. She had a loving heart and a compassionate soul. Melinda loved the Blessed Mother and prayed for her intercession always.

Relatives and friends are invited to call, Saturday, June 15th from 9 to 10am at the Maternity BVM Church, 9220 Old Bustleton Avenue, Phila PA 19115.  Her Funeral Mass will follow at 10am.
