Rocco Gerolamo

Rocco Joseph Gerolamo, Sr., 85, of Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania, passed away on December 3, 2023, with his wife of 52 years, Mary-Anne by his side.

Rocco was the oldest of two children born to Joseph and Josephine Gerolamo on July 12, 1938, in Philadelphia. Rocco graduated from Northeast High School in 1956. He joined the Army Reserves and then finished cosmetology school in 1961. His chosen career afforded him the ability to tell stories all day, which he loved to do. Rocco was passionate about the art of styling hair and knew how much joy having a fresh look brought to his clients. So, when his clients were no longer able to come into the salon, Rocco brought his services to them—a modest example of his kindhearted nature. He owned and operated Rocco’s Hairstyling & Beauty Salon for 60 years until he reluctantly retired in 2021.

In 1967, Rocco met Mary-Anne Loretta in Philadelphia. They married on September 25, 1971, and went on to have two children, Rocco Joseph Gerolamo Jr. and Angela Marie Gerolamo. Rocco worked hard to make sure his children and wife were taken care of and felt loved every day.

Rocco had many nicknames—Rock-O, Rocky, Mikey, Powder Puff, and the Relic. He was a kind, compassionate man, full of integrity and he loved his family and friends so deeply. There is nothing he wouldn’t do for the people he loved—taking your clothes to the dry cleaner, getting your car inspected, and finding you the best deal in town!  Rocco enjoyed so many things including sitting on the beach, taking long baths, looking in the mirror, and eating leftovers. He is best known for his ability to out-dance anyone on the dance floor. Today, Rocco is dancing with the angels.

Rocco is survived by his wife, Mary-Anne Loretta Gerolamo, his children Rocco Gerolamo Jr. (Jeannine Gerolamo), Angela Gerolamo (Brett Huberman), his grandchildren Harper and Parker Huberman, his Uncle Rocky DiGerolamo and numerous sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.
