Matthew Cole

Our ROCK, Matt Cole, passed on Thursday November 30th. He is survived by his wife Shannon (Costello); daughters Paige and Samantha; sons Ryan and Jude; mother JoAnn; brothers Dean and Mark; mother in law Patricia; father in law Edward; sisters in law Patty, Dana and Erin; brothers in law Matthew and Robert; nieces Allison, Kate, Maggie, Anna and Katie; nephews Sean, Joe, Patrick, Robert and Eddie. He is predeceased by his father Ed.

Matt was born and raised in the Somerton section of Northeast Philadelphia where he developed his love of all sports and forged strong childhood friendships with several of his Spartan teammates. He graduated from Archbishop Ryan High School and attended St Joseph’s University before choosing to follow his dad into the Carpenters Union. Matt has worked as a union carpenter for the past 31 years where he excelled and was always a leader in the industry. Most recently spending the last 17 years as LaMarra Construction’s “go to guy” for everything.

Matt’s undying support for his family led him to every baseball, basketball, soccer, lacrosse, volleyball, and football field in Horsham PA where he enjoyed coaching all of his children in every pursuit they chose. Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter, Matt was in every way a part of his children’s passions wherever it took them. Whether on the ball fields or in the classroom, he supported and nurtured to bring out the best in all of them. Matt was a great father and a loving friend. He could make a true friend out of a stranger and fill any room with laughter.

Matt was also our CAPTAIN at sea. He taught us all to get off the beach every now and then, and to explore the back bays of the Jersey Shore. Whether it was fishing, water sports with the kids, or just a Sunday Funday on the bay, he showed us a whole new perspective of “taking in a sunset”.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Sunday, December 10th from 3 to 6pm at the Galzerano Funeral Home, 9304 Old Bustleton Avenue, Phila PA 19115.  A second visitation will take place Monday, December 11th from 10 to 11:30am at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 321 Witmer Road, Horsham PA 19044.  His Funeral Mass will follow at 12 noon.  Interment Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem PA.
