Gino Padula

Date of Death:
November 1st, 2020

Gino Padula, Sr., of Philadelphia, PA passed away peacefully on November 1, 2020 in his home. He was 87 years old. Before passing, he lovingly reassured his family: “I had a good life and can die with a smile on my face”. Gino was born in Chiauci, Italy and bravely journeyed to America in 1951, at age 18 and alone, intent to pursue a better life. And a better life he created, for himself and his family. Gino always had an entrepreneurial spirit and worked as a tailor, hair stylist, pizza shop owner, before finally pursuing his love for pattern making. He also served his country in the Army. He eventually married, raised two children, and paved the way for his brothers to come to America. Without a doubt he achieved the American Dream. He enjoyed red wine, homemade Soppressata, and family dinners, which often included lectures about the importance of education and saving money. Later in life, he enjoyed spending time at the shore. Gino will be greatly missed by his loving and devoted wife, of 62 years, Jessie (Scicchitano), his daughter Mary and husband, Allen Hite, his son Gino Jr. and wife, Janet (Ott). Gino loved his role as Grandpop to Nicholas, Ginamarie, Anthony, Jessica, and Sophia. His death is preceded by his brother Elio, and is survived by his brothers, Antonio (late wife Nina), Silvio and wife Adele, brother in law Michael Scicchitano and wife Donna and his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. Family and friends are invited to gather Saturday, November 7, 2020 Maternity BVM Church, 9220 Old Bustleton Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19115. Viewing at 9 am. Funeral Mass at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 333 W County Line Rd, Feasterville PA 19053. Keeping with CDC guidelines, social distancing and masks are required indoors and outdoors. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Gino’s memory to the Dysphagia Research Society or Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.

Memories and Condolences

My sincere condolences to Gino's family. I worked with Gino at Charming Shoppes. He taught me so much about patternmaking and grading. He was always so kind and helpful. Rest in peace my friend. I am a better person to have known you.
What an honor to have known Uncle Gino. I’ll never forget his stories as a young child growing up during World War II and the values he taught us. It’s amazing to think of the sacrifices he, my dad, Uncle Silvio and our mothers made to give us a better life. I hope we’ll keep making him proud. I’m sure he had a great big warm welcome in heaven. Love, Anna
Ciao caro zio Gino, riposa in pace! Grazie per tutti i bei momenti passati insieme! Sarai sempre nel mio cuore. Luigia.
Gino was one of the Italian tailors with whom I had the good fortune to work at JNY. His good humor and talent will be missed by all who knew him.
May you rest in peace! Hugs and prayers to Mary and the family.

Mary and Gino and Mrs. Padula and family, we are so sorry for your loss. We loved Mr. Padula like a second father. From his homemade sambuca to his great stories to his chiding about meat :) He always had a smile on his face and was happiest when he was with you all. We will miss him! Love you. xoxo
Our sincere sympathy to Jesse and the rest of the family. Gino was such a great guy. His life was full of people who loved him - he was a lucky man.
Jesse and family - We are so sorry to hear of Gino's passing. We have so many good memories of our times together. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Gino was a very special person, in every way! We have good memories of him and we too remember his joyous smile. Now he wants you to take care of yourself, he keeps smiling to you from heaven. Gino è nelle nostre preghiere. Un abbraccio! Cugini Vito e Gina Mirijello
