Biagio Caruso

Biagio Caruso passed away peacefully on February 28, 2024, at the age of 89, with his family lovingly by his side.

Born February 28, 1935, to Salvatore and Nunziata Caruso, Biagio grew up in Bronte, Sicily with his six siblings.  As an adult, Biagio lived a modest life in Sicily working as a farmer until August of 1974 when he immigrated to America with his wife, Nancy, and four daughters, Tina, Angela, Maria, and Francesca. When they arrived in Philadelphia, Biagio began building his “American Dream” by working as a factory worker and, later, became a business owner and a tailor.  Once retired, he loved spending his time outside enjoying activities such as hunting, fishing, or tending to his garden and fig tree, and most of all, he loved spending time with his family. Biagio was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and loved nothing more than watching his family grow. Throughout his fulfilled and blessed life, he made an endless number of friends and memories.

Biagio is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Nancy Caruso;  five siblings, Angela Camano (Late Thomas), Nicola Caruso (Manuela), Placido Caruso (Nunziatina), Antonio Caruso (Lucia), Vincenza DiGregorio (Nello); four daughters, Tina Frangello (Frank), Angela Villanti (Salvatore), Maria Wenzel (Brian), and Francesca Caruso; 6 grandchildren, Daniela Villanti (Matt), Sabrina Villanti (Cassie), Angelica Villanti, Jessica Frangello (Filippo), Christopher Wenzel (Teanna), Amanda Wenzel; and 4 great-grandchildren, Giuliana Benckert, Natalia Benckert, Ryman Wenzel, and Luca Villanti.

Biagio is preceded in death by his sister Nunziata Azzara and her late husband Ignazio Azzara.
