H. Dolores Huslin (Smith)

H. Dolores Huslin passed away on Monday, February 26, 2024 at the age of 91.  Born on a farm in Gettysburg, she moved to the Philadelphia area to pursue her education and graduated from Temple University School of Nursing in 1953.  She married Dr. Stanley C. Huslin and together they had 3 daughters.

Dolores was a long time resident in Northeast Philadelphia where she pursued careers in Nursing and as a Real Estate Broker in a time when women were challenged if they worked outside of the home.  She was a strong, independent woman, both personally and professionally, living alone in her home that she loved right up until her final day.  She was an avid NASCAR fan and had very strong feelings about the drivers as she watched every weekend during race season!

Dolores is survived by her daughters; Loryn Williams (CL Bergeron), Gwynneth Stott (Victor Stott, Jr), Erica Mills (Gregory Mills), 6 Grandchildren and 2 Great-Grandchildren:  Conner Williams (Kelsey and Sawyer); Kyle Williams (Jen and Morrigan); Victor Stott, III; Heather Stott; Jason Stott (Sydney); Jonathan Alfano.  Dolores is predeceased by her parents, Charles and Esther Smith; brothers, Charles "Bill" Smith; Harold M Smith and sisters, Mildred Dayhoff and Philimine Garlach.  She is survived by her sister, Eleanor Kuhn and many loving nieces, nephews and family in Gettysburg, PA.  She enjoyed spending many long visits staying with her niece Carole, who kept her busy shopping and socializing, maintaining close ties with friends and family in Gettysburg.

In life, Dolores was thoughtful, caring and always had just the right gift to share with someone on their birthday and Christmas - as a Mother, she was always a constant presence and inspired all of us.  We are grateful that we had her in our lives for 91 years.

Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Saturday, March 9th, 2024 from 12-2pm at the Galzerano Funeral Home, 9304 Old Bustleton Avenue, Phila PA 19115.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her name to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
