Antoinette Pody (Montini)

Antoinette Pody (nee Montini) passed away peacefully on December 3, 2023, at the age of 91.

The devoted wife of the late Hugh Pody, Sr., and loving mother to Theresa Ann Pody, Nick (Joan), Hugh, Jr (Maureen), Denise Pody and Anthony (Mary). She was the cherished Mom Mom to 11 Grandsons: Salvatore Cotteta, Christopher Cotteta, Anthony Cotteta (Taylor), Nick Pody(Maria), Christian Pody, Dominic Pody(Christina), Connor Clearfield, Cameron Clearfield, Anthony Pody (Kimberly), Matthew Pody, and Joseph Pody. Antoinette adored her 4 Great Grandchildren: Vincent Cotteta, Maximus Cotteta, Arabella Cotteta and Juliana Pody, and anticipated the arrival of her 5th Great Grandchild on December 26 to Nick and Maria Pody.

Her many nieces, nephews, and friends will miss her dearly, especially her faithful and affectionate caregiver of 6 years, Gladys Gbapaywhea, to whom the family is deeply grateful.

Antoinette was born to Italian immigrants Peter Montini and Sarah Sciulli and ways raised with her four siblings (Caroline, Marie, Anna and Pete) in the Tacony section of Philadelphia; all of whom are already with our Lord awaiting her at the Pinochle table. An astute businesswoman, she assisted her husband, Hugh Pody, Sr. in establishing and growing the HC Pody and Son’s Construction Company and a successful property management business. Both businesses are part of her legacy which lives on through her children and grandchildren.

She was an amazing cook who somehow found a way to feed multiple unexpected guests at a moment's notice. She loved making traditional Italian meals and instilled a love of family and the cooking of authentic Italian food in her children and grandchildren; especially the coveted Christmas Eve 7 fishes 13 dishes dinner.

As an avid golfer and card player she loved being physically and mentally active. She was known to travel with a deck of cards (even to jury duty) and would never turn down a game of Pinochle, Gin, or Bridge!

Family and friends are invited to her viewing on Thursday, December 7, 2023, from 10 to 11:30am at St. Dominic’s Church, 8504 Frankford Avenue, Philadelphi, PA 19136 followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:30am. Internment Resurrection Cemetery, 5201 Hulmeville Rd, Bensalem, PA 19020

In lieu of flowers donations the family requests you consider making a donation to St. Jude Research Hospital or St. Huberts High School for Girls
