Carmen A. Adamo, age 92, residing at ACTS in Southampton, PA, passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2023.
Carmen was born on October 7, 1930 to the late Joseph and Marie Adamo (Beltrante) in Philadelphia, PA. He graduated from Southeast Catholic Boys High School in 1948. A few short months after graduating from High School he enlisted in the Naval Reserve and was honorably discharged in 1950. Shortly after, Carmen joined the US Air Force from 1950 to 1954 and served during the Korean War. In 1957 Carmen became a Police Officer for the city of Philadelphia where he worked for 26 ½ years and retired in February of 1984.
In 1958, Carmen married Phyllis Sangermano in Germantown, PA. Carmen and Phyllis went on to have one child, daughter Lisa Zychowicz (Adamo).
During his retirement he went back to work at a Medical Supply Company. Carmen also greatly enjoyed spending time with his daughter Lisa, and her husband David Zychowicz, and all his extended family. In his final years Carmen resided at Acts Senior Living Community in Southampton, PA where he had many great times with his friends.
Carmen was pre-deceased by his wife Phyllis (Sangermano), daughter Lisa Zychowicz (Adamo) and brother Joseph P. Adamo. Carmen is survived by his sisters Lillian Clavin (Michael), Eleanor Esposito (Gene), sister-in-law Diane Adamo, son in-law David Zychowicz, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services will be held at Maternity B.V.M. Church, 9220 Old Bustleton Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19115 on Wednesday, May 24th. The Viewing will be at 9:00 am followed by Mass at 10 am. There will be a private interment at Washington Crossing Cemetery on Thursday, May 25th precisely at 9:30am. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to “For Pete’s Sake (FPS) Cancer Respite Foundation” or the American Cancer Society.
