Harry E. White aged 79, passed away peacefully Friday in his home with family. He was born to the late William and Alice, and was raised in Presentation Parish, in the Cheltenham Village. He married his beloved, late wife Clare (née Corrigan) in 1968 and together they raised 4 children. Harry is survived by Gerard White, Carmel White-Daniel (Lance), Bernadette White, and Regina Oswald (Michael). He is the cherished Grandpop to Lawrence, Anastasia, James, Connor, and Madelyn. He is adored by his great-granddaughter Katalina. He is also survived by his Brothers in-law Joe (late Joyce) and Thomas (Dorothy). Harry was the youngest of 4 and was predeceased by his late brothers Billy (47), Bob (81) and his late sister Ellen (5).
Being from Cheltenham, Harry was surrounded by family within only a few blocks. Due to his sister’s untimely death, his nearby Aunts and Uncles stepped in and kindly took Harry under their wings and made him feel at home within each of their own families. For that reason, Harry considered his many cousins to be more like siblings, and maintained close relationships with each of them. Harry is also mourned by the members of his valued extended families ; The Whites, The Morrissys, The Foleys, The Traceys, The Corrigans, The St Clairs, and The Caseys. There was nothing Harry would not do for his family.
He was a devout Catholic who served the church in many facets. He was proud to be from Cheltenham, PA and continued that tradition by raising his family there. Harry was a career driver for United Parcel Service. His long days and hard work were fueled daily by his Pepsi fixation. After 30 years with UPS his retirement years were spent taking loving care of his wife, beside her for every step of her 21 year battle with cancer.
His final years were spent enjoying sitting on the stool in front of a penny slot machine. He rooted for his nearby companions to have the luck that he himself was not finding. Harry will be remembered for his generosity, his loving ways and his uncanny memory. Once he knew a birthday or anniversary, he could never forget it. Mostly he will be remembered for his strong devotion to his faith.
