Alphonso Perna

Alphonso C. Perna from Philadelphia PA passed away peacefully at 90 years of age after living a full and rewarding life.  He was surrounded by his beloved family in South Carolina where he lived his final years.  Al was preceded in death by his parents and his six siblings. 

Al is survived by his 5 children whom he raised on his own.  Al (Erika), Patricia (Michael), Michael (Linda), Fiore (Sheri) and John (Nicole).  Al adored his 13 grandchildren who lovingly called him "Pop".....Alicia, Kimberly, Lindsay, Christopher, Laura, JJ (Karen, his Mom), Elizabeth, Teresa, Samantha, Stefani, Tara, Michael, Jayden and Matt Rody, and 4 great grandchildren Madison, Charlotte, Sophia, Theodora plus another granddaughter expected this summer. 

Al was born and raised in South Philadelphia where he graduated from Bok High School in 1952.  He proudly enlisted in the US Army in 1953 and was an honorable Korean War veteran. Al spent most of his workdays employed by the Philadelphia Inquirer as a machinist.  His hobbies included a passion for pinochle and bowling which he played up until his passing. 

Above all, Al's love and dedication for his family will be the legacy he leaves behind.   

Relatives and friends are invited to visitation on Friday March 3, 2023 from 9:30 - 11am at the Galzerano Funeral Home 9304 Old Bustleton Ave. Phila. PA 19115.  Funeral services will begin at 11am at the Funeral Home. Interment will be held privately.

  Family and friends are encouraged to share memories and stories of Al.
