Esther Kennedy (Seifert)

Esther Kennedy (nee Seifert) died peacefully on February 8, 2023, at the age of 105. Loving wife of the late Bernard Kennedy. Devoted mother of the late Mary Ann (Jim) Gallagher. Loving mother of Joseph (Rose) Kennedy, Most loving Grandmother of Mary Ann (Dave) Nisula, Maureen (Steve) Zarlinski, Michael (Kelly) Gallagher, Matt (Christine) Feeney, Tom (Jennifer) Kennedy, Joann (Andrew) Miller, Keith (Beth) McClure, Jen (Drew) Eisenhofer, and Krista (Jim) Stafford.

 

Great Grandmother of 17, Megan, David Nisula, Stephen, Justin, Tyler Zarlinski, Quinn, Katie Gallagher, Keira, Aidan Feeney, Sophia, Sienna, Jack, Avery Kennedy,  Audrey Miller, Katie Stafford, Ryan McClure, and Maura Stokarski.

  

Predeceased by her parents, Joseph Seifert and Barbara Arthaber, her siblings, Joseph Seifert, Gussi Seifert, Stella (Henry) Volker, Charles (Virginia) Seifert and Richard/Buddy (Betty) Seifert. Also a devoted mother figure to the late Lori Feeney Gallagher who married Jim. Survived by her sister in law, Rita Seifert and many nieces and nephews. 

 

Esther was born and raised in the Olney section of Philadelphia. Loved her family and had a wonderful childhood with her cherished siblings. She was lucky to have Stella, Charlie, and Bud with her until late in life. 

 

She had many jobs over the years including being a ‘Rosie the Rivator’ installing radios into planes at Brewster Air Craft plant in Warminster, PA. Her favorite job was that of a full time Mom and later, a very active Grandmother, ‘Gram’. Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren brought immense joy.

 

After World War II she married Bernard and had two children, Mary Ann and Joseph. Esther was a very active volunteer in her children’s school activities and helped support her husband’s oil heating business. She was a member of Incarnation parish and made lifelong friends including her beloved Ladies club friends. Later, they moved to Busleton and were members of Maternity BVM parish. Spent her final years at Redeemer Lafayette, where she was very social and loved by staff and residents.

 

Esther loved attending family gatherings and activities, hosting many over the years. Enjoyed a family tradition of attending Cannstatter’s Labor Day weekend festival, attending it over 95 years. Made thousands of cakes in her life for family and friends, most remembered for her famous Easter egg cakes. 

 

Esther touched many lives in her 105 years. She will be greatly missed.

 

Relatives and friends are invited to call Tuesday, February 14th from 10 to 11am at St. Christopher Church, 13301 Proctor Road, Phila PA 19116.  Her Funeral Mass will follow at 11am.  Interment will take place at Our Lady of Grace Cemetery in Langhorne.
