Deborah Lee (Black) Service Information

On January 21, 2023, Deborah “Debbie” Lee (nee Black), age 61, passed peacefully surrounded by her children shortly after The Eagle’s victory on Saturday night. She lost her courageous battle with lung cancer just a few short months after diagnosis. Although she was a fighter, she was “ready to go home” with her beloved husband, the late Joseph R. Lee.

She was the devoted mother of six children: Jennifer Black-Waerig, William Lee, Matthew Lee, Megan Farina (nee Lee), Debb Lee-Pace, Alexis Ferry (nee Lee) and stepmother to Joseph Lee Jr., Michael Lee, and Kathleen Lee. She was also a loving grandmother to 17 grandchildren. She was the beloved sister to Betty “Ducky” Muschynka (nee Black), Russell Black, the late Glen Black, Wayne Black, the late Marlene Black, Karen Black, Sherrie Black and survived by many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

Debbie Lee was well known to almost everyone in Frankford and Wissinoming where she resided on the 1700 block of Brill street for many years before “movin” on up like the Jefferson’s” to Mayfair in Philadelphia. Known to many as “Big Deb”, she loved all of her children’s friends like her own. She welcomed anyone and everyone into her home with open arms. She was “the cool mom” and she was like a mom to everyone in the neighborhood. She was known to give you a nickname whether you liked it or not and honestly, if you had a nickname from Big Deb, that means she loved you even more.

Some of her favorite things were Lifetime and Hallmark movies (especially corny, romantic Christmas ones), all Philadelphia sports (especially the Eagles…you can smile up to heaven and thank Big Deb for that W!), her grandkids, Wawa, coffee and cigarettes (her favorite combo), buffalo wings, laughing ‘till you almost peed your pants, hot tea (only Lipton tea with cream and sugar), “homemade” iced tea, Zitner’s Cocoanut Cream Eggs, Victoria’s Secret “Heavenly” perfume, shopping, napping, ham and cheese with pickles on a roll, posting positivity quotes on Facebook and many, many more. As a child she enjoyed playing jacks, double dutch jump rope, dancing, swimming and hoola hoop.

Everyone that knew her has very fond memories of her. She never wanted anyone to be sad and therefore services will be held privately as per her request. We know she is smiling down on us with her beautiful “dimples in a smile”. Thank you for the memories, you are loved by so many. May your eternal nap be the best you ever had. Xo
