Antonio Falsetta

Antonio Falsetta, a retired Washington High School teacher, died suddenly on Sunday, August 21st at the age of 87.

Antonio was predeceased by his parents Maria Nucci and Michael Spina Falsetta.

Tony is survived by his loving siblings Mary McCarthy (Bernard), Michael a.ka. Joey Falsetta (Patricia), Kathleen Dano, and Jane Drabouski (Walter).  Cherished by his nieces and nephews Anne Marie Kendro (George), Michael Falsetta (Diane), Joseph Falsetta, Patricia Massarella (Anthony), Christine Sexton (David), Suzanne Kondus, Peter Drabouski (Jackie), Jeannine Perry (Larry), Christopher Drabouski (Jeremy Cerutti) and 11 great nieces and nephews. 

Antonio was born in Malito, Italy and came to Ellis Island on the Rex with his mother as a toddler.  He spent his childhood living  in the Port Richmond section of Philadelphia before relocating to the Rhawnhurst section of the city as a young man. He attended West Chester College where he earned his teaching degree in 1958.   There he was able to put his barber skills to good use on his classmates for pocket money.  After graduation, he spent over thirty years working for the School District of Philadelphia as a High School Geography teacher.  After retirement, Tony moved to Huntingdon Valley where he was welcomed by his wonderful neighbors.  He was a dedicated parishioner of St. Albert the Great and an avid tennis player at the Delaware Valley Tennis Club. For many winters Tony enjoyed playing tennis in the warmer weather at the Tennis Club of Palm Beach in West Palm Beach, Fl.  Tony was a lifelong passionate Philadelphia sports fan. He enjoyed long walks around the neighborhood, tennis matches three times a week,  Saturday evening mass, and regular early bird dinners at Gallo’s.  He will be deeply missed by family and friends.  

Relatives and friends are invited to call Saturday, August 27th from 9 to 9:45am at St. Albert the Great Church, 212 Welsh Rd. Huntingdon Valley, PA.  His Funeral Mass will follow at 10am.  Interment Our Lady of Grace Cemetery, Langhorne.

In lieu of flowers family would prefer donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in his name.
