Anne Martella Service Information

Anne Martella, age 97 of Philadelphia, departed this world on Monday, August 15, 2022, to be with her loving husband, family and the saints that preceded her. 

Anne was born March 5, 1925, to parents Louis and Josephine Ciarlo of Perkasie, Pennsylvania. She was married to Joe Martella of Philadelphia for 49 years, who preceded her in death in 1994. She is survived by her loving family: daughter and son-in-law Roseann and Gene Lewis; son Ronald Martella, sons-and-daughters-in-law David and Violeta Martella, Joseph and Sharon Martella; grandchildren Jasen and Christine Lewis, Philip and Tylisha Martella, Gina and Dusty Dill, Jacob Martella and Joshua Martella; great-grandchildren Henry Dill and Courtney Billingsley. 

Anne was preceded in death by her parents; husband Joe Martella; brothers Louis, Anthony, Felix, sisters: Estelle, Jennie, Carmella, Valeria, Pauline, and daughter-in-law Nelda Martella. Anne is survived by her sister Elizabeth. 

Anne was a loving mother who dearly cherished her children and their families. She was also a loving “Aunt Anne/Annie” to many, many nieces and nephews. 

Anne was a member of Maternity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Northeast Philadelphia. She spent countless hours by her picture window in the living room praying her Rosary. 

Besides cooking delicious Italian meals for her family, Anne’s greatest pastime was crocheting. She crocheted countless blankets, covers, and booties for family, friends, and anyone who wanted one. Donating crocheted blanks to Project Linus was a great passion of hers. Anne had a very loving and generous heart. 

Relatives and friends are invited to visitation on Saturday August 27, 2022 from 9-10am at the Galzerano Funeral Home 9304 Old Bustleton Ave. Phila. Pa. 19115. Funeral Services will begin at 10am with interment to follow at the Resurrection Cemetery Bensalem PA.

Memorials are requested to Maternity BVM Church, 9220 Old Bustleton Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19115. 

The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, Nazareth Hospital and VITAS hospice organization for their care and professionalism during these last few weeks of our mother’s life.
