Gertrude “Trudy” Duffy was called home to our Lord and passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday July 31, 2022.
Trudy was born to Wilfrid and Aurore Vaudreiul on January 22, 1940 in Fall River, MA. She is survived by her devoted husband, Joseph M. Duffy, Jr., and their five children- Paula (Ballinger), Joseph III “Bud”, Edward, Brian, and James- four grandchildren- Matthew, Daniel, and Michael Ballinger, and Jessica Lingo- and great granddaughter- Lily Ballinger. Trudy is predeceased by sister Vivian and is survived by siblings Wilfred, Andrea and Michelle Vaudreuil, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
During her childhood, Trudy lived in various towns along the East Coast, and she loved sharing her memories of Savannah, GA and Norfolk, VA. Her last stop was in Philadelphia, PA where she was a 1957 graduate of Little Flower High School, furthered her education at Pierce Junior College, and met the love of her life and husband of 61 years, Joseph Duffy.
Trudy’s exceptional legacy is that of a devoted wife, Mom, sister, Aunt, and Nana, a faithful Catholic, a selfless volunteer and educator, an inspired poet, a dependable CFO of John F. Schmidt Printing, and a diligent revenue agent and manager for the IRS. For the last 35 years, Trudy loved creating many friendships and wonderful memories at Resorts Campground Country Club in Ocean View, NJ. Somewhere in heaven, Trudy is calling out “BINGO” and winning the jackpot. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Maternity BVM Church in Philadelphia, PA on Tuesday August 16, 2022. Visitation begins at 9 am followed by mass at 10 am. A brief funeral service will follow at Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown, PA at 11:30 am. Luncheon to follow at La Stalla Restaurant in Newtown, PA at 12 pm.
