George Vytautas Karalius

George was born in Lithuania in 1937. After a tumultuous childhood during World War II where his family constantly moved. In 1950, his family was sponsored and immigrated to the United States settling in Philadelphia. He graduated from Central High School and Temple University.
He had three phases of work life. First, he is a Marine, "Semper Fi". His second career was with the City of Philadelphia where he started as a Lifeguard and retired as the Deputy Commissioner of the Recreation Department. During his tenure, his most recognized call of duty was running the Mummer’s Parade, a well known Philadelphia tradition for a decade. After retiring at 55, he wasn’t quite ready for a rocking chair. So, he joined his son, Rob at New York Life. In his 30th year in 2022, George referred by many as "Poppy" still can be seen bringing in new clients as well as maintaining the relationships with clients that he introduced to New York Life over the last generation.
George is married to Pat for 62 years. He is a proud father of 2 children (Pat & Rob), 4 grandchildren (Tommy, Trish, Joey and Robbie) and 5 great-grandchildren (Landon, Kingston, Trayce, Mila and Jackson). Their close-knit family not only shows in work life but also in real life, spending holidays, vacations as well as sharing the normal ups and downs of everyday life.
