Lorraine Fitzgerald (nee Montemuro) passed away on January 5, at the age of 90, surrounded by her loved ones. She was the beloved wife of the late John Fitzgerald, loving mother of Dr. John Fitzgerald (Dr Georgia Crozier), dearest MomMom of Dr. Catena Crozier-Fitzgerald (Dr Christopher Brightbill), Francesca Crozier-Fitzgerald (Andrea Coiro), Giovanna Crozier-Fitzgerald, and proudest Great MomMom to Lucina. Lorraine was a devoted younger sister to the late Marie DeJulio (Romeo), Hon. Frank J. Montemuro (Peggy) and Albert Montemuro (Rosalie). Lorraine lived a very full, purposeful life–ninety years of enjoying the company of her family and friends, taking care of those she loved most, creating and reinforcing an anthology of meaningful traditions. Her spirit was bright and youthful and her unwavering loyal nature awarded her many lifelong friendships. You could always find Lorraine with a big smile, surrounded by many old and new friends. Lorraine was employed by the city of Philadelphia for over 30 years, in management and administration in the Philadelphia Family Court and the Health Department. She was the State President of the Women’s Division of the Order of Sons of Italy (OSIA) National Officer, co-founder and President of the Justice Frank J Montemuro Lodge, PA State Trustee, Financial Secretary, Recording Secretary, and served on many national committees for the OSIA. She devoted countless hours volunteering in her parish, Maternity BVM, and serving as a eucharistic minister. Lorraine Fitzgerald will be remembered for her resilience, incredible talent for storytelling, her ability to love deeply and selflessly, her simply beautiful smile, and above all else, for the fun-loving, spunky, electric personality she brought into each room she entered. Relatives and friends are invited to call. Friday, January 14th from 9 to 10am at the Maternity BVM Church, 9220 Old Bustleton Avenue, Phila PA 19115. Her Funeral Mass will follow at 10am. Interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Park.
