It is with great sadness that the Greghini family announces the death of a legend. Paride “Perry” Greghini transitioned peacefully on Thursday morning, surrounded by his loving family. “Parigett,” as he was affectionately known, was born in the charming town of Scerni, Abbruzzo, Italy. He was one of 6 children to Giovanna and Filippo Greghini. At 16 years old, he traveled to the bustling city of Milano, Italy to work for 5 years until venturing to the United States in 1956. He learned to be a barber under his father’s wing and perfected his skills. His magnanimous smile and personality coupled with his excellent skills secured his success as one of the most beloved barbers in Northeast Philadelphia. In 1959, Perry trekked back to Italy to marry the love of his life, Angela, in which he left behind to secure their future in America. Theirs was a true love affair, that of likes of Romeo and Juliet, as they were so fondly referred to. Not long after returning to America, Perry and Angela shared a child, the light of his life, Giovanna. She gave him two grandchildren, Giuliana and Adriano, who he spoiled and cherished until his last breath. Perry lived every day with a smile on his face, a laugh, a kind heart, and a generous hand. He was a joyful man who lit up a room and loved to burst into song. He was a strong and gentle man, whose love for his family and friends was profound. He was devoted to his values and to keeping his Italian culture alive. Perry lived a long, full life and will be missed everlastingly by everyone who had the pleasure to know him.
