Dennis Fuscia

Dennis “Fuzzy” Fuscia passed away on October 11, 2021, at Jeans Hospital, surrounded by his beloved wife and loving family with peace and dignity at the age of 68. He is survived by his wife, Danielle and his children; Michael, Nicole, Salena, and the late Brandon. Cherished son of the late Salvatore and Elizabeth Fuscia He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, his sisters Joan Fuscia and Diane Fogarty (James) and many nieces and nephews. Dennis was a lifelong resident of the Lawncrest section of Philadelphia where he attended St. William Grade School, Cardinal Dougherty and Northeast High Schools. Anyone who knew Dennis could tell you how much he hated having to go to school. So at age 16 is a he got his GED and went to work for his father’s company J Wal Painting until they closed in 1987. He continued to work for himself, very often working long hard hours. His convictions and principles in his work ethic where old school. If he gave you his word a hand shake meant something. He would not let you down, your job would be done, no contracts needed. Extras done free of charge, any color you wanted, he would make it himself to match a tile, bedspread or even your dog. And when he left, your home was as clean as if he was never there. The most important thing about Dennis was his heart, kindness and best of all the that Great Sense of Humor. If Dennis was your friend, he was a true friend, and would do anything in his power for you without looking for anything in return. He truly loved his nieces & nephews with unconditional love. And if someone would do anything to them, well let’s just say you were messing with him! If he sensed you were sad or upset he could make you laugh no matter what, and again try to help you make it right. The most endearing thing about was his love of children. He never lost that wonderment that children feel. And if it was that mother in front of him who need the extra $3.00 for the toy or candy he’d give it to her. His creativity allowed him to bring so much joy to a 4 year old boy in the hospital who loved pirates that he made swords out of paper towels to have a sword fight with him. Whether it was buildings, bridges out of twigs from the woods, huge sand castles in the sand, or battle fields made out of cardboard, spackle, paint & tasty cake tints it wasn’t for any praise, it was for the kids enjoyment and smiles. Dennis never forgot how it felt to feel like a child and he will be forever young at heart. Relatives and friends are invited to call Tuesday, October 19th from 10am to 12 noon at the Galzerano Funeral Home, 9304 Old Bustleton Avenue, Philadelphia PA 19115. His Funeral Service will follow at noon. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers family would prefer donations to the Parkinson’s Foundation at www.parkinson.org or to the National Kidney Foundation at www.kidney.org
