Diana T. Visco

Diana T. Visco, 80, of Philadelphia, PA, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, October 10, 2021. Born in Philadelphia, PA May 26, 1941, Diana held a B.S. Elementary Education from West Chester State Teachers College (now University) an M. Ed. Psychology of Reading from Temple University, and Administrative Certificates from the University of Pennsylvania qualifying her to be either an Elementary or Secondary Principal or an Assistant Superintendent. Diana began her career with the Cheltenham School District teaching sixth grade at Myers Elementary School. At one point, Diana resigned her teaching position to pursue an M. Ed. in Reading. She then returned to the school district as a Reading Specialist working to improve the reading skills of students in K through 12. Prior to becoming a member of Maternity BVM Parish, Diana was an active member of St. Katherine of Sienna Parish in Torresdale where she volunteered as an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist and Lector. Diana's devotion to our Blessed Mother – particularly under the title of Our Lady of Fatima - led Diana to volunteer as the Coordinator of St. Katherine's Pilgrim Virgin Statue program. Diana also discovered she could express her passion for teaching and her faith by volunteering as a teacher for the CCD (now PREP) program at Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Bensalem, PA which she did for 20 years. Always looking for an opportunity to use her many gifts to help others, particularly children, Diana agreed to serve as President of the Corporate Board of SPIN (Special People in the Northeast). Diana relaxed by playing racquetball because it helped burn off whatever excess energy may have remained after teaching, volunteering, sewing, canning seasonal vegetables, baking bread, crocheting, knitting, and, let us not forget, shopping. Diana will be sorely missed by her loving family: sister, Anne; brother, Richard and his wife Donna; nieces, Donna Kempo, Susan Stevens, Andrea Visco and Megan Fulmer and their families; nephews Michael and Stanley Stevens and Brian Visco and their families as well as her cousins and other extended family members. Relatives and friends are invited to call Wednesday, October 13th from 9 to 10am at the Maternity BVM Church, 9220 Old Bustleton Avenue, Phila PA 19115. Her Funeral Mass will follow at 10am. Interment St. Dominic’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Diana's memory to Maternity B.V.M. Church 9220 Old Bustleton Avenue Philadelphia, PA 19115. Family requests that all attendees please follow proper Covid-19 protocols.
