Kathleen T. Murray (O'Hare)

Kathleen Murray (nee O’Hare) passed from this life on August 23, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Philadelphia, PA on July 12, 1932 to Michael O’Hare and Hannah O’Hare (nee McDaid). She grew up on Englewood St. in Mayfair and attended St. Matthew’s Grade School and graduated from Nazareth Academy in 1950. Kathleen was proud to be a first generation Irish American. Kathleen was the heart of her family. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Bernard, for almost seventy years. Mother to ten children, Kathleen miraculously survived their teenage years. No small feat. She will be greatly missed by Bernard (Maryann), Mary Lou (Dennis Balasa), Steve (Picasso), Patty ( Eddie Ferreira), Kim (Gary Rickus), Charles (Karyn), Linda, Peggy (Kevin McLaughlin), Janet (Rick Muscavage) and Christine (John Jenkins). Also survived by daughter-in-law, Jane Murray. Twenty-five children were lucky enough to call Kathleen, Grandmom. She never forgot a birthday, thanks to the family calendar, and will be greatly missed by Kristie (Clint), Jessica (Michael), Richard (Jen), Patrick (Claire), Sean (Erin), Bob (Amanda), Luke (Amy), Devin, Keeshawn, Ryan, Josh, Shaylyn, Melissa (Ryan), Molly (Chris), Michael (Lindsay), John (Rachael), Stephen, Matthew (Danielle), Kathleen (Vince), Jason, Meghan Patricia (Trace), Amanda, Jacqueline (Matthew), Ian (Val), and Meri. G.G. was also loved by her twenty-one great grandchildren; Logan, Beckett, Natalie, Zach, Brynn, Colin, Brendan, Quinn, Chase, Bobby, Bryce, Connor, Luke, Emerson, Sloane, Rowan, Aubrey, Kelsey Grace, Nathan Kevin, Hannah and Sawyer Trace. Kathleen valued her relationships, especially with Stew and Phyllis Barbera, her sister-in-law Betty Murray and sister, Nora Gammon. She connected with her sororities from St. Matthews and Nazareth Academy for more than seventy years and taught us all the importance of friendship. Kathleen brought her kindness, empathy and organizational skills to her work as a receptionist for Pediatricians Reed and Levin. Many time patients called to talk to Kathleen directly for her vast knowledge and experience in child rearing. Kathleen enjoyed traveling to such places as the McDaid/O’Hare homesteads in Ireland, Alaska and Hawaii. The Jersey shore was a special place for Kathleen. She worked on Wildwood’s Boardwalk selling candy during her high school years. Kathleen spent many sunny days enjoying the beach in Sea Isle, Avalon and the Winchester Swim Club with family and friends. Kathleen never said an unkind word about anyone. In a family, where everyone had a lot to say, she was an excellent listener. She gave great advice. We’ll miss you mom, more than words can say. Rest in paradise. You are the best! Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, August 26th from 6 to 8pm at the GALZERANO FUNERAL HOME, 9304 OLD Bustleton Avenue, Phila PA 19115 and again on Friday, August 27th from 10 to 11am, at St. Jerome’s Church, Stamford and Colfax Sts. Her Funeral Mass will follow at 11am. Interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers family prefers donations in her name at www.theparkinsoncouncil.org
