Thomas J. Mercurio, Sr

Thomas J. Mercurio, Sr passed away suddenly on May 18, 2017. A graduate of Germantown High School and Temple University. Thomas was a life long resident of the Philadelphia area. He was a veteran of the Korean War where he served as a U.S. Army Sergeant. He worked at F.J. Stokes (later Pennwalt, Stokes Vacuum) for 45 years, retiring as Chief Financial Officer. Through the 1970s he was the President of the Home & School Association at Maternity B.V.M. Elementary School, where he received a special award for his efforts from Mayor Frank Rizzo. He is survived by a family who adored him; his beloved wife of 55 years, Theresa (nee Toner); his children, Karen Mercurio, Thomas Mercurio Jr., Cheryl (George) Spais, and Jen Mercurio; as well as his granddaughter, Ashley Mercurio and grandson Alexander Spais. Relatives and friends are invited to call Tuesday 8:30 to 9:30 am Galzerano Funeral Home 9304 Old Bustleton Ave. Phila., PA 19115 (below Welsh Rd.) Funeral Mass 10 am at Maternity B.V.M. Church. Interment Private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Maternity B.V.M. or the Sister of Mercy, Merion, PA.
