James Patrick Friel

James Patrick Friel, 77, died Saturday, April 25th at Kennedy Jefferson Hospital in New Jersey. He was born January 26, 1943 in Philadelphia where he lived in Devil’s Pocket with his parents, James and Catherine (nee Quigley) Friel. He graduated from Bishop Neumann High School in 1960. After several positions he joined Local 5 Elevator Constructors Union until he retired after 30 years. He married his wife Margaret “Margie” (nee McGonigle) in 1963 and became the proud parents of Lizanne Friel (Rob Brace) and Jimmy Friel. He was most proud of his grandson, Patrick. Due to the limitations at this time his Funeral Services will be held at a later date.

Memories and Condolences

Sincere condolences. He was a fun loving no bullshit guy. The embodiment of a Philly neighborhood guy. Always enjoyed when he was bar tending. Sincere condolences to the family.

I will miss my Uncle Jimmy big time. He was a great uncle but a better friend to me. I will miss our talks until the wee hours of the morning we have always seemed to had when he visited or we were hanging out. I will miss you Uncle Jimmy and I have you Aunt Margie ,Lizzanne,& Jimmy in my thoughts and prayers. RIP Uncle Jim.
