Cathy Branka (Hickey)

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Cathy Branka (nee Hickey) on Sunday, February 21, 2021. Cathy was a wonderful Daughter, Sister, Wife and Mother. She grew up in Mayfair with her 10 brothers and sisters. She attended St. Matthew’s Grade School followed by St Hubert’s Catholic High School for girls ’84 and graduating from Temple University in 1988. Cathy had many interests including cheerleading, reading, art and her love of animals, especially her dogs. Cathy was one of the most diligent and conscientious people towards projects she had to complete. Her dedication to her career as a Litigation Paralegal at Cozen O’Connor where she was consistently recognized for her outstanding job performance. Cathy’s greatest love was her family. John and Cathy were grade school sweethearts. John Played basketball for St Matt’s and Cathy was on the cheerleading squad. After a brief time apart, they began dating again on December 5th, 1982 and have been together ever since. Cath lived for her son Jack III, her husband John and her two Labrador retrievers, Chase Mutley & Hunter Mayhem. Cathy also had a huge heart when it came to volunteering her time at work coordinating the Red Cross Blood drive for Cozen O’Connor at One Liberty Place. Cath was also the #1 supporter of the Lower Moreland Music Boosters offering countless hours of service making her an irreplaceable member of the Boosters. Cath’s fundraising and videography efforts will never be forgotten. Cathy and her son Jack had an extremely close relationship and supported all of all his endeavors whether it was Little League Sports, Pilsung Martial Arts, LMHS Tech Crew, and LMHS Music programs including Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble. Jack was the light of her life and Cathy just loved being his Mom. She was the beloved wife of John M. Branka, Jr. Loving mother of Jack Branka. Devoted daughter of Dorothea “Dot” and the late John Hickey, M.D. Dearest sister of Dot Demetor (Joe), John Hickey, M.D. (Eileen), Frank Hickey (Lynn), Maureen Hickey, Joe Hickey, M.D. (Margie), Robert Hickey (Maureen), Diane Buchanan (Clyde), Steven Hickey, Denise Froehlich, M.D. (Greg) and Chris Hickey (Audrey). She is also survived by her many loving nieces, nephews, family and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to call Friday, February 26th from 9 to 10am at the Immaculate Conception Church, 602 West Ave Jenkintown, PA 19046. Her Funeral Mass will follow at 10am. Inurnment will take at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Cheltenham. In lieu of flowers please make donations in her name to Lower Moreland HS Music Boosters, 555 Red Lion Road, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006 Cathy had the ability to bring the absolute best out of everyone she met. Her warmth and kindness knew no bounds. She was a beautiful soul inside and out. She loved everyone she met and they all loved her back. Words cannot describe our heartache and sadness in losing this absolutely gorgeous woman, but we can all take solace that she is in a better place with God and her Dad. We know she will always watch over John and Jack for the rest of eternity. Sweet Dreams my love, we got this now. Love Forever, John and Jack.
